Default 93 wrx cutting out please help

for the last 2 days when ive been out in the scooby ive had random cutting out moments, a few times when ive been sat parked up idleing for a while the revs just drop right off and it cuts out and a few times ive been driving it changed gear and its stutterd and almost cut out. its almost the same as when i had a vta dump valve on it (but i have the std recerc one back on now) its really annoying me now wanna get it fixed soon as lol allso seems to be running rich as hell lol

Idle air control valve maybe? However with this you should sometimes get a higher idle. Quick solution is to open and clean it, better solution is to replace it.

Also are your spark plugs fine? Totally wrong spark plugs can also cause similar symptoms.

its either your idle air control valve or your crank position sensor, more likely the idle control valve iirc

If the ECU detects that the IACV is totally off, you will get a rough idle at about 2k RPM (very nice sounding BTW, like a rally car). To clean it, just remove the air hose and electric connector to it (and the coolant pipes I think). I have no access to carb cleaner so I just gave the parts a good wash in petrol. The parts you will need to clean are the housing, a small filter like thing and the rotating cylinder. You will see those when you open the IACV.

However the improvement was only temporary for me and eventually I fitted another IACV.
