ive been having misfire type probs with my 94 sti import,did plugs & new coilpacks,the cars worked fine one day then not the next....symtoms are..
uneven idle smoke out the exhaust & really bad ruff running,then just clears

while it was doing this i checked the engine to find this blackbox loose.i wiggled it to find the car mint,then wiggled it again to find it wanted to cut out & smoked it brains out misfiring....so my question is what is the box,can i tighten it up....of is it goosed.....heres the pic,cheers

 

hi mate its the throttle potentiometer if the screws are loose then yes you can tighten them but i think they are slotted for adjustment, should be set to a correct votage with throttle closed i am unsure of they setting voltage though sorry some one on here will know im sure

 

cheers bud,just checked & it seems the screws at each end are marked & tight!...so is this secured from the inside of the throttle then?....
any one else had this prob?
