Default piggyback ECU's- can a remap raise boost?

ok have a hks f conS piggyback ecu in my car at moment. 1995 wrx import

will shortly be fitting a hybrid FMIC, 440cc injectors, Warlboro fuel pump, (fuel pressure reg? -if i need one), and some kind of cone induction filter and then get a remap

1) When i get the remap on the above can the level of boost be raised on a piggyback ECU???

2) Car currectly has a turbo 3" back with sports cat exhaust, are there any other mods relatively cheap that would be worth getting at the same before i get the remap, that would also increase performance?

Your std MAP sensor will prevent boost being raised to more than 1.1bar (cut's at 1.2bar), so you could fit the MY97/98 one which will allow you to run 1.3bar (cut's at 1.4bar)... or even the MY99/00 one (think cut is at 1.7bar ).

With those mods at 1.1bar, you're looking at the right side of 300bhp, and there still should be some headroom left with the 440s (i.e. won't be running 100% IDC). An FPR is not needed.

If you get the later MAP sensor and run 1.3bar, then you should be the right side of 320bhp, but the 440s will probably be near 100% IDC. With an FPR added and fuel pressure raised to 3.5bar (3bar std), you'll be seeing getting on for 350bhp but, once again, the 440s will be near limits.

ok great, am after a 97/98 map sensor, possibly a 99 one? are these plug and play, or do you need to join the looms?

can anyone confirm the 99 map sensor what the cutoff is?

althiugh my car is qa 1995 wrx import 65k, not sure if that kind of boost might be a bit harsh on her, is it gona be safer to stick with the 97-98 mapo sensor, or do you think the car will be ok running higher boost

Engine should be good for about 1.5bar of boost (I would not go beyond this IMHO), so might as well get the higher rated MY99/00 MAP.

AFAIK I think they just swap over... BUT... need rescaling as it delivers a diff voltage range so will 'confuse' the ECU/BCS. But that would be taken car of when the ECU is remapped anyhow. So, make sure you get the mapper fit it just prior to the remap.

thanks, i wont fit it prior to getting it mapped then.

only other thing i need to know that the HKS F ConS can be mapped to raise the level of boost, it may sound a stupid question but it only says fuel and ignition timing computer on the front, dont want to go ahead and get the rest of the bits only to find the f conS wont go past 1.1 bar of boost.

has anyone had any experience of these ecu's

or alternatively would i need to get a seperate boost controller to raise the boost to 1.5?

anyone recommend one if this is the case. and do i need to fit it at same time of mapping? will my mapper be able to calibrate it when he does the remap
