Default CLASSIC WRX MAX OUTPUT

hi there. still being a newbie i wanted to know what sort of power i could run my classic wrx to without engine failure. i mean without rebuilding the engine with forged bits etc. how much power could i produce just with bolt ons. grateful for any input. cheers

300bhp but this will shorten the lifespan (clutch and gearbox mainly) and if you drive it like an idiot all the time then expect the engine lifespan to be shorter.
Bolt-ons will never normally produce good power unless remapped to take advantage of the mods.

Standard ecu should look like this

you may have a chip in the bottom rh corner where there is the row of solder.

Or you could have a manual boost controller that could need sorting out

erm could be. i checked the error codes and it came up with speed sensor but i have no speedo cable in at the moment since the old one melted by touching the turbo. also a maf sensor and a pressure sensor. i was told by changing the maf i should be good but even when the CEL is not on i still get the cut out of power. i dont have a manual boost controller so am guessing its a chip. is the ecu in the passenger footwell

Yep ecu is under carpet and kickplate.
Should be either U8,W6,2C or possibly Z4 depending if it's near the end of 1994
