Default AVCR Testing (ATTN Mappers)

Does anyone know how i can test my second hand Apexi AVCR functions (powers up) without connecting it to an ECU i.e. splicing?

12v DC power adapter or battery charger maybe? Don't want to blow the thing up though.

Thanks in advance.
