Default AVCR - Keep it or take it out?

Ok guy’s looking for opinions here, Iv done 3 RR days this year & the last one Iv dropped 30bhp/60lb ….
{ after fitting a avcr - the car was mapped to run at 0.9bar, with the avcr Iv up'ed it to 1.3}

The reason being
“it's pulling timing due to engine knock so it's going onto the hi-det fuel map so overfueling to death, resulting in power loss!!”

So what would you do ? take out the avcr or get it mapped to work together ?

Car being a 06 STI with the normal mods (Induction kit/zort/map)

Strange that the car was 'mapped' to run at 0.9 bar when the standard map targets 15psi. I'd get rid of the boost controller and IK then get it mapped by someone that knows what they're doing.

Get it mapped to work together. I mapped mine to work with the AVCR and it is rather nice

I'm guessing yours hasnt been mapped at all and you just fitted an AVCR to a std car and upped the boost. Would explain why it is taking so much timing out. The std ecu is doing you a favour by protecting your engine from this by dropping the timing and just shows it isnt all about the boost.

If, you get the maps right it is very good to drive with the option to switch the boost up and down with the AVCR.

Well said Duncan..you need to get them both the ECU and AVCR to run together

Thanks for the feedback guy's, Just what I wanted to read

BTW it had been mapped a few month before I got the car but for some reason it was only pulling 0.9 or there about on boost hitting 348/365 but after fitting the AVCR it's come down to 317/340 as it's going in to the " hi-det fuel map ". Turned off the unit now untill I can get it mapped again

Who mapped it?

If that is on the std turbo there is absolutely no way it made those figures.

Not sure who map's there cars but a large independent Subaru place...
Was also RR'ed at Weston where the numbers were a little higher
But to be honest I dont chase numbers it's the way it drives

Just found an old pic of the print out I got with the car....

And one from Weston

Now thats something I carnt say for sure, thats what the gauge read from day one of having the car.... maybe it was a little more but when the AVCR went in there was a massive difference on 1.2

One thing I dont understand is the bottom graph was with the AVCR fitted, 10 months later it's dropped on paper

Not to bothered as it still drives the same lol .....
re-map it is now me thinks ( new turbo from santa would be aswell )

0.9 bar sounds like the wastegate figure without any boost control?
You certainly wouldn't get 348 at that boost level let alone torque peaking at 400lbft! Mind you, it drops like a brick after that!

Wastegate pressure is 0.6 bar on the 2006 STi VF43 turbo.

The graphs show something in the region of 1.5-1.6 bar peak then dropping down to 0.9 bar at redline. That may be where the confusion lies.

Whatever the situation is, it is knocking hence why it is using the high det rich fuel map and needs remapping now before it dies.
