Default fitting a hks fuel cut defender to classic impreza turbo - what setting number use?

as title really, a friend is fitting a hks fcd and not too sure which setting to set to. wanting to run 1.2bar.

and whats difference does it make to which setting to use?

It just raises or lowers the fuel cut point. set it to 12. Mine was at 1.3 bar at one stage (with supporting mods) with no fuel cut when set at 12.

thought so even if on 12 he still get boost cut just below 1.2bar. is this because the map sensor cant handle it? car is 1995 impreza turbo

Yes, I'm certain that's what's happening. The v.1/2 MY93-96 OEM MAP sensor is rated at 2.2bar absolute, so it will tell the ECU to cut boost at 1.2bar relative boost pressure. Your mate needs to fit the v.3/4 MY97/98 2.4bar rated one (boost cuts at 1.4bar).

But swapping the map sensor is not a straight swap. The car must be remapped if swapping to the later sensor, as it gets a different voltage signal.
