Audi a4 V6 engine. The oil filter is a paper kind which is held in a canister between the 'V' of the engine.

On changing the oil and the filter - do i fill this cannister with new oil (as you would fill a normal oil filter) or just pour the new oil into the oil filler cap on the crank case

ive done oil changes on a transit diesel which is the same design and you dont fill the cannister!
