Absolutely, yes. All newage WRX's have 3 cats (up-pipe, down-pipe and centre) it's the STI that doesn't have an up-pipe cat..
U/P cat does strangle performance IMHO as it cools and therefore slows gas flow to the turbine. Pain to remove, but well worth it. You will also need a cel fix for the cat on fire sensor, which is a piece of p BTW..

Regarding the cat on fire sensor. Is it just a K-Type in the up-pipe to measure temp or somthing else?
What causes the CEL light? As in can you not just bridge a resistor over the cat on fire sensor pins to show a constant 700 degrees equivalent?
Cheers for the advice.

Nice easy one then :-) I like those!
Plan is to decat the up-pipe and downpipe and just leave the single centre cat in there. Add an STI Intercooler, Cheeky remap and hopefully see circa 270bhp.
I plan to track this one at least once a month so I want it to be as near to unbreakable as possible. Hence low'ish power. May have to add some AP's and big discs to avoid cooking the front bearings though.
Thanks for the advice.
Cheers

Nice to hear they'll work out to the power I want then. How's reliability been for you?
I like to have plenty of strength in reserve to take into account a bad tank of fuel and time on the rev limiter ;-)

Thanks Arch, Is it actualy an EGT probe i.e. generates a value or just an excessive EGT temp warning device?
If its used by the ECU for anything I'll weld a boss onto the up-pipe for it. If not it can go ;-)
Cheers

Can someone explain in simple terms if I need a resister. I've got a decat exhaust from Hayward & Scott with a cell fix (wire in the ecu),I have a decat uppipe from Harvey to be fitted next week, this pipe has the threaded blob for the egt thingy, I don't understand this sort of thing so can someone help with advise? Cheers, Mick.
