Default Error code 24...is my Idle contol valve gone??

hi there, got a 1997 british subaru impreza turbo

its been having trouble starting latley and then the other day the idle dropped and it stalled, now when it starts the idle sounds very lumpy and the
"check engine" light has come on....it only idles at about 500 rpm

so i connected the 2 green wires up under the dash to read the fault codes...

its getting an error 24...typed that into google and it came back with
idle control vavle soleniod

took the soleniod off and checked it wasnt jammed, it all moves freely...

does this mean i need to replace the valve, or is it a wiring fault??...
is there a way of testing the 3 wires that connect to it with a multimeter??..

theres a few on ebay at the moment so is it worth getting a new one??..

many thanks...sean

If that's the only error code you're getting, I would say you need to pick a new one up from Subaru, and your problems will disappear.

I'm not an expert however, so maybe best wait for more advice: as there may be some underlying cause.
