Default Brake disc advice needed please!!!!!

Right, had car in for its MOT on friday

Discs all round needed to be replaced aswell as brake pads, fair enough

garage guy says the front discs (think he said with pads not sure) were lookin at four hundred quid (not sure again if that included the time to fit charge aswell)

I thought that was steep but thought bugger it as i wanted the car back for fri night,

Then he rings back in the afternoon saying that i needed a new abs spring or something and that have to wait til tuesday for one to be delivered, pissed off but fair enough.

So four hundred quid for front discs and pads standard ones? bit steep aint it?

anyway main question i thought to just buy aftermarket ones myself as they would be cheaper, so my question is, will these fit my wrx??:

Scoobyparts Ltd BREMBO HIGH PERFORMANCE FRONT DISCS

Im asking this because obviously they are bigger than my standard brakes and it also says in the description that they are for sti's??

Will my callipers let these fit? Also as i noticed my callipers are different colours to the normal standard variety, i asked the previous owner and he said, that the service he done last, he bought WRX pads for the callipers but they didnt fit, STI pads then did, so are they sti callipers?

they certainly dont look like brembo's, and i presumed that sti's came with big gold brembo's? or did they come with normal callipers?

Lol im sorry for these silly questions but brakes are not one of my strong points within the world of cars.

So id just like to know if these will fit, as ill just buy these for £269, and get the black diamond road pads all round, rather than the extortionate price of four hundred quid for standard discs

plus if they DO fit, it means ive saved enough money to get a set for the rear also sold on that same webpage .......but am i right in thinking that the rear hub braking system is different on the sti's as they have different handbrake components???

If anyone can shed some light id really appreciate it as with the right advice i can save a considerable amount of money!

Thats if the garage hasnt gone and fitted the standard crap they said theyd ordered

Thanks guys, Ash

Hi, i take it you have the standard 4 pot's with subaru in white on them? If so,the brembo's won't fit,as the standard discs are 296mm,not 326mm.
£400 is really expensive! You can get yourself a set of grooved discs for £100,good pads for £80. Fit them yourself,it's really easy!

yeah theyre four pots but couldnt see why previous owner HAD to fit sti pads in them?

I want brembo's though lol. Thought if im spending money on brakes, its only gonna be once so may aswell upgrade now. Dont like the look of those black ones on that shop website, these:

Scoobyparts Ltd BLACK DIAMOND GROOVED FRONT BRAKE DISCS

but then again at £155 ive saved sh@tloads

The garage said my rear discs would only be £60 each so theyre not too bad

So if i bought the black diamond discs on the front, standard discs on the back, and the black diamond pads front and rear, would the braking balance be alright?

They don't stay black for long, the pads will soon wear it off.But they will keep from going rusty round the hub,i like them. Black diamond stuff is very good, had some pads on my last car running 4 pots, they were awsome!
Trouble is the brembo calipers fetch good money,£400 or so,then you'll need discs, pads etc.

Woo Hoo, 1000 posts!

You front calipers look blue. Not a great pic, but they don't look like brembos.
As mentioned, do they have the subaru logo on them?

1000 posts lol woo do you get a free sn t-shirt?

so you'd recommend black diamond products on the front then

Eventually id like to get brembos for the front end, infact scrap brembos, for around eight hundred quid id probably get these :

K-Sport Big Brake Kits for European and Japanese Vehicles

then when feeling flush, the 6 pot kit for the rear

I cant even remember what they have written on them lol. Car still at garage so cant look. I just reckon theyre four pots. Still baffled at why the previous owner needed to put sti pads in them as the wrx ones didnt fit?

If you want Brembos, I have a set of fronts, with Tarox sport Japan disks, and DS2500 pads.

Nothing wrong with them, in fact, disks and pads only done 8k miles ish.

£450 the lot

like the brake lines etc? and how hard are they to fit?

The car had MOT taken out at orbit tyres in wellingborough, i can trust them with standard parts but would they find these complicated to fit?

I am pretty sure (99%), that they fit straight on a bugeye, as they are the same (mines a blobeye).

Fitting is the same as changing calipers for any others. Just need them bled afterwards. Disks just slide off and on.
