Default Help with oil usage!

Evening folks.

MY07 WRX. 420bhp. Ecutek (Mr Rawle special). Mahle pistons. STI9 rods.

Using an obscene amount of oil. Thick end of a litre in 250 miles.

No visible leaks. Oil catch tank is now VTA. Some smoke on idle when cold. Smoke when I boot it (once oil is warm). No smoke on idle when warm.

I understand that forged pistons have bigger clearances so I expected more oil usage, but clearly something isn't right. Any suggestions?

Many thanks in advance!

Stew

that is quite a lot mate, forged pistons do run a larger clearence than standard pistons so you do get some oil usage compared to standard pistons, you could have a leaking turbo oil seal, this could contribute to a high volume of oil usage too.

Thanks Jonny

Turbo oil seal sounds like it may be the boy. Bitch to change.

Any more thoughts?

Sounds like a dying turbo. Time for a BB turbo

I am very surprised with 420bhp out of a 20G though - must be the highest figures from one of those that I have heard.

Another was bought at same time as mine (from Mr Harvey) and made even more!

May be time for MD321...but financial constraints at the moment

Dastek at Motorscope (Northallerton).

Just need to get this oil usage sorted and I'll be a happy boy regardless of what it power it makes.
