A very long story and i did not do it!, but it was done to my car! i was just wondering on any ill effects or long term effects putting a small amount of diesel by mistake into your scoob, not running it, and emptying the system out, filling up completely with the correct petrol and changing the fuel filter, but still finding the car smokes (blue) on gear changes, i have not taken the car over 3k revs, and will not do until either the smoke has stopped (hopefully) and i have done a few tanks of petrol, can anyone put my mind at rest please!

My dad did this to a pertrol van we had and it fecked the engine within 40 miles. If you haven't drove it you will be ok. Its the other way around that is serious ie petrol in diesel

i dont think you you will see any long term damage IMO if you have done what you have said above. you didnt run it, thats the main thing.
just run that tank through without boost.

Thanks you two, its just the horrible smoke that annoys me, i assume in the next tank it will be thinned out enough to smoke alot less, i have put so much work into this car, i kindly lent it to the father in law (who is a classic car rebuilder, and developed the vr6 engine), and in a moment of stupidness put diesel in it, just dont want it to damage the engine.

So what you done to the car since I last mapped it
well changed the filter setup, exhuast etc etc oh and accidentally filled with diesel, but it was vpower diesel!!!!!! lol

no ill effects once filter changed and a couple of tanks put through them..

nice one mate thanks, will prob change the filter again and plugs when i have done a few tanks, funny thing is i am pretty sure you cant fit a diesel pump nozzle into a uk car scoob filler, but imports filler pipes are bigger so diesel nozzles over here do fit.

Be aware that Diesel will lower the Octane rating, so don't cane it until you've got it run through or you risk det' damage, what is left will tend to sink to the bottom of the tank and be the first to be picked up....

thanks mate, that will explain a lot, i will not cain it, no fear, i like my car too much, i did fill to the top with v power and octane booster, got an apexi knock sensor and display fitted so i can watch also.

I seem to remember top gear or fifth gear trying this out putting petrol in diesel cars and visa versa. They ran the cars until they conked out then drained the tank and put the correct fuel in.

As i recall after a bit of spluttering they all worked fine again. Think it was a dig at garages charging massive amounts for "engine repairs".
