Is this normal..?
hi lads/lasses
just the one quick question i have a process west cold air intake fitted to the scooby...and the standard recirculating dump valve fitted by subaru
PROCESS WEST - WRX/STi Products - Universal Gauge Sensor Adaptor
the induction roar is awesome as the air is sucked in...the question is when i take my foot off the throttle to change gears i am getting the whoosh noise from the dump valve (i think) or is it the air stopping from entering the induction pipe....i thought a recirculating valve was suppose to make no noise....is this normal....will it cause me any problems....
thanks in advance.....

When a recirculating dump valve is fitted to a standard air intake system it does not make any noticeable noise due to the airbox, resinator and the air inlet pipe. But as that has been removed by fitting the induction kit you hear it quite easily. Just like if you drove your car with the exhaust fitted then removed it from the downpipe put the exhaust to one side and go for a drive. As you have removed the silencers it will be a heck of a lot noiser. I look at it that when the recirc dump valve operates it blows out any loose dirt.
