Default UK SPEC FUEL QUESTION

Im buying a uk turbo 2000 and have been told that it can be run on standard 95 octane fuel - and also have been told that it should only been ran on super unleaded? Can anyone shed any light on this issue asap

many thanks
greg

I've always ran mine on Super Unleaded since i've owned the car would love to run it on V Power but there isn't any in my area so i've had to settle for the next best thing.

UK spec classics can run on 95 ron but too get the best out of it then use any 97+ ron fuel (although BP Ultimate doesn't seem to agree with imprezas)

Perfectly fine (they also do a 97 ron but only in a few garages though).
V power is probably the best but ,imo, unless you are going to start running more boost and fiddling about with mods i think you would be wasting your money on the highest octane fuel.

Have had 3 UK Classics (1 modified and 2 bog standard) and have tried the superfuels several times, including the fabled ecu reset. The modified one definitely ran better on 97 but the 2 unmodified cars showed no difference in performance or economy, not even smoother running. The only difference we noticed was a bigger bill at the pump.

Do not know what the mods to first car were. Was our first Scoob and were quite inexperienced with them at the time. Bare minimum was dump valve, induction mods with cone filter, decat and axleback, underbonnet adjustable boost, and apparently a piggy back chip on the ecu, tho I never confirmed that for myself. It was certainly quicker and more responsive than the later (standard) cars.

Have also had a 53 plate uk WRX which ran better on 97ron, but it was still slower than the classics so we sold it

My 2005 says 98+ in the filler cap.

It was also remapped on the older optimax and an octane booster so it really does need 98/99

But on the crappy isle of wight all we have is sh*t texaco 97ron.

And wait for it........... its 128.9 a litre c*nts

Done the same on my UK MY98. Seems very happy on 95RON I will have driven it for 60K in it by the end of the month (85K total - all original). If the super unleaded made that much difference to the way it performed I'd use it. But it didn't, so I stayed with 95Ron. Suits my wallet too LOL.

Default what is the most fuel efficient car I can buy?

Everyone wants a diesel because frankly despite all the leaps and bounds that have been made with diesels over these past few years. And not everyone can afford a petrol hybrid like the Honda Insight or Toyota Prius either.
