Default Roughly how much???

Budget price to uprate my 04 STI engine with better pistons, etc as required to be good for about 420-450bhp??

I'm aware of prices for turbo, injectors, remap, etc, etc, but not the actual block/asembly.

Cheers

Nowt ! If you are lucky.....

cdf racing do a set of rods & pistons for £520-ish

Then there are bearings, oil pump, head gaskets, studs, gasket set, oil and filter, and if you don't do it, the bill for LABOUR !

Cosworth short 2.5 in abox £3100 + VAT

Scoobymania have a range of options, or talk to Rick ?

Are you thinking of just pistons without replacing the rods?

Be rude to not do both whilsts engine is out.

But you can swap pistons without splitting the block, depends on the state of the bores...

P.S. Alan Jeffery do a 2.1 for £1700+VAT, plus all the other gubbins mentioned earlier...

Of course the rods can be replaced and stick with standard pistons, but at the end of the day if your going to do a job, do it properly, just saves time and money in the future IMO.

I think you missed a bit in there ! LOL

You can swap the pistons without splitting the block, saves money, and the rods are good for around 480 bhp !

Assuming the bores aint bad.

Didn't miss anything, Norris do drop in rods for Evo's and have them running reliably with just a rod change and keeping standard pistons....but what happens if they do go? They will need the engine out again......some people will do anything to save a few pennies here and now.

But its personal choice, if and when I have mine done, they will all be done at the same time for peace of mind, I appreciate the rods are weak part in the chain, but replacing one without the other is daft....IMHO.

When it comes to the engine, it shouldn't be about cheaper in the short term, because if it goes bang, then it aint going to be cheaper in the long run is it.
