Z4 vs ESL chip
I just thought I’d share some of my findings.
I’ve been running an ESL daughter board for about 18 months now on a td05. I get 1.1 bar easily and the acceleration is rapid.
After driving the car daily I would say I’m quite use to the power however the fuel consumption on long journeys still shocks me.
So I decided to try a Z4 apparently they both run a similar map.
The Z4 has been on the car for almost a week and I can’t get above 1 bar.
The acceleration is slow in comparison especially in a high gear.
I don’t know if the Z4 gives me a better return on fuel consumption and to be honest I don’t care.
I know you can’t have everything but I wasn’t expecting the Z4 to behave this bad.
I’ll be putting the ESL ecu back in very soon!

sounds like a different map, the esl might have a tech 3 map on it mapped for anotehr car, would never run as well or to the full potential on a different car.
personal i wouldnlt use generic maps anyway, the esl is a good bit of kit, however it needs mapping for the individual car.

Oh i wasn't doubting it,it's just a really good result! It's strange how differently some of these cars react to tuning, some better than others. I must admit,my car feels alot quicker that 310bhp,but then it does have the RA box.

My approach isn't advisable though.
380cc injectors are maxed out from around 5200 rpm on mine.
Should be throwing my 2 pot brakes out soon though.
What I find amusing though, I raced a friend 5 times at the SSO this year, 2.5 20g yada yada. Lashed him each time.
He had his car on the same rollers as I used this Saturday gone, 434bhp @ 1.5bar. He was 3rd in class behind me.
Power isn't everything.
