Default improving response from an 02 wrx

im not overly concerned about getting loads of horsepower out of my wrx mainly because the car is returning pretty good mpg but is there anyway to improve response as there does seem to be quite a bit of lag

Ideally a full decat (all 3..! ) green/kn panel filter a remap will transform the car. As for MPG that will improve too, believe it of not..

If you keep an eye out for a decent s/h 2.5" exhaust, with fitting and mapping you'll have a very different car for less that a grand..

No more concerns about those pesky 240 odd bhp hatches..

Get it mapped - most of that lag is not actual lag but the way that Subaru mapped it. (god only knows why)

You'd be surprised at how good it will feel after a straightforward remapping (and green air filter for good luck).

If you feel the need to change the exhaust, this will help, but I firmly believe that you will tell the difference from just remapping and have no issues with decats/MOTS etc and have more money in your pocket.

Zen Performance are only down the road from you in Wellingborough - pretty sure Paul will be happy to advise you of how different it will drive post remap. It isnt all about peak figures as these will be limited to a large extent by the small turbo on there.

Stick in a new turbo (td05 16G would be my preference) and then you have to start changing quite a few bits to keep it fed with fuel and air LOL

Fuel pump, intercoooler, injectors....and more !!

Just de-cat / sport cat, pop in a better filter and have it re-mapped to about 250 BHP which is what it should have left the factory with
