ok take a big breath and relax, ikts an easy to sort issue.
Installing Dawes Device Question [Archive] - Turbobricks Forums
a quick google threw this up.
MBC= manual boost controller, commonly referred to as a dawes (short for the product name "dawes device")
its a brass fitting about 3" long that sits nicely on top of the turbo between the compressor shell (the shiny clean alloy looking snail shell commonly called the "coldside") and the actuator (the gold coloured little pot that sits on the turbo and links the shiny bit at the front to the rusty bit at the back (commonly called the "hotside" as it gets bloody hot )

this bascially is a manual boost controller
you turn the screw at top to lower or higher boost.......at the same time looking at your Boost gauge to make sure you dont over do it, very small turns is best

no nothing like that mate, its a hexagonal shaped bar, 2 inch long, 2 pipes coming from the bottom with a spring loaded bolt that turns on the top, cant seem to get a pic on here, its got a piston type thing inside it that moves up and down depending on how you screw the bolt at the top

i really dont see why it should be that difficult, someone mustve raised or lowered thier boost on here, theres 75,000 members, just cant believe no one knows which way to turn it!!

when i had one of these fitted on my car i screwed mine in making the hole inside smaller to INCREASE the boost, and unscrewed it making the hole inside bigger to DECREASE boost.
all should be the same but dont hold me responsable for it. if it over boosts fuel cut should cut in and ur engine wont blow.
on another note when cars are remapped they normally turn boost up or down electronically. but if they have mapped the car using this manual controller i'd not bother touching it as its mapped to that boost level???
personallt i'd just remove it from the system as they are not reliable imo
