coolant temp sensor (or associated wiring) on the water crossover pipe it will start eventually but will take some cranking, had the same problem on mine and turned out one of the pins had popped out on the wiring loom multi plugs by the battery.

mine did the same for a while, i reset the ecu ,,job done

try ecu reset first ,had the same problem with mine and it was the coolant
temp sender telling the ecu engine was warm (when it was really cold)

this sensor is a bit ov a chew t change due to its location,if you do change it remeber t reset ecu (to clear fault)

i had this problem a while ago (still do) on my 95 uk but i changed the sensor but the fan sdill comes on?!
