Default tapping

hi guys (1997 wrx sti v3)
the last couple of days my engine seems to have a an anoying tapping noise like you get from tapets its not that loud but its anoying me, so i changed the oil last night and filter i put 10w 40 castrol GTX any ideas what it can be

I'd describe top end rattle as more of a "clicking", are you sure it's not coming from the bottom end? "Tapping" could be piston slap, bottom end rattle or tappets, I guess.
My rebuilt was horribly noisey until the oil had got into the tappets, but cleared up in around 10-15mins. Get an audio file of the noise and someone will be able to point you in the right direction.

Hi,
Have you got any update on this?
I just noticed a clicking sound on my 07 WRX. Can only hear it with the bonnet open and if you stand above the engine, not sure if this is normal and are the injectors. It sounds more like a sewing machine.
