Would it not be a good start to measure the bores to see if they are within tolerence and not oval?

It may make your decision easier!

If you need to buy pistons, why not go first oversize 0.5mm with rebore then you will know it's all good.

if you can still see the cross hatching on the bores with no score marks or smooth patches you may be ok
