Engine Knocking?
Went to set of for work this morning but engine sounded louder than normal, took a closer look and there's a knocking coming from the engine, it gets progressively louder when accelerating - ive not driven the car but what does the damage sound like?
Full engine? big end bearings? Both?
Gonna need someone to take a look to see what the damage is - so i'd better start looking.
Only had the car 6 weeks

Funny i had the car booked in for an oil and filter change next week i hope i didn't leave it to long to get the oil changed couldn't have caused it could it?
Owned the car for 6 weeks probably only clocked 200 miles in total but at least with the engine rebuild i shouldn't have any more problems for awhile

If it knocks when the car revs down (when you let off throttle) its defo big ends. If it jst knocks when you rev it up it might not be as bad as you think. I thought my engine was a gonna, turned out to be a sticky valve. It runs perfect now. Mine is noisy on the first start of the day. Knocks a bit. I think its a bit of piston slap. Car is fine once hot. Take the car for a good run and see if it clears. Otherwise you really need to take it to a garage to get is diagnosed properly.

Beg to differ! the big ends are more likely to be heard knocking while accelerating, due to the extra forces involved. Just hold the engine between 2000 and 2500 rpm, then blip up to 4000. If you hear a hard knock, you are in the do do.

When i start car first thing it's loud but my exhaust is loud and it overpowers the sound so i didnt think nothing of it, it's not a loud knock but i reved the car a little and i could hear it gettting progressively louder - stopped after that didn't want to damage anything else and i've never driven it since.
The car has been surging for awhile tho i thought now it's started knocking i thought that might have been the cause, isn't the knock sensor supposed to detect a knock before it happens?

I think you have the same as I had. I didnt drive mine for a week cos I thought the big ends were gone! I would fire it up on the drive and it would knock loud even when the gauge said warm. Then I drove it to a garage and by the time I got there the noise was much better. Then I took the car out and drove it like I stole it and the noise went. Its been perfet since. Its still a little noisey on cold start but not big ends. Just piston slap I think.

Good news on the car turned out not to be as bad as i first thought the problem was timing belt and tensioner were lose but they need changed badly
alot cheaper than engine rebuild replacement tho

The cam belt tensioner knock is not unknown and a modified version was produced in responce.
