They look like 380cc Grey injectors, not 440's

Well that's assume that they tested the Subaru Grey injectors in such a way that they flowed 440cc, and if you gave them the Subaru Grey injectors out of your car, and they tested them the same way, they would flow 440cc too !

Mark.

Question

Ha. I've just seen that auction then came by this thread! I too was suspicious of them as they simply weren't yellow .

I've sent the auction's seller a message asking him if they definitely are 440s... BUT... reading what Mark @ Lateral has said, the trader could, whether unscrupiously or unknowingly, pull the wool over one's eyes. At the bottom of their ad, it invites people to sell them unwanted injectors for them to recon and resell on - could this be a clue to the auction being for 380s (seeing as many people would be looking to get rid of their unwanted, redundant 380s!)

Personally I wouldn't risk it, and wait for a set of genuine STi yellow 440s to crop up either on SN or eBay. That's what I'm gonna do. Talking of which, there are a couple of sets on SN at the mo going for 95 and 100 quid - is this a little too much to pay? I thought c.£75 was more the ballpark, at the very most? Does anyone go along with this?

What's the going rate for a professional ultrasonic clean of a set of 4 injectors from a reputable outfit? Does anyone reccommed any said companies?

Cheers, John

Well I bought some second hand yellow 440s a couple of years ago and sent them straight to Mark/Lateral to service. Never had any problems since, they work very well. TBH I'd never fit 2nd hand injectors into any engine of mine without a proper servicing.

Yep. It'd be false economy NOT to get second hand injectors ultrasonically cleaned... seeing as they're already out of the car! That way you can have piece of mind about the fueling not running lean in any of the cylinders, plus the best possible power and fuel economy because of the perfect conical spray mist.

I intend to wait for a set of phase 1.5 v.3 ones to crop up for hopefully c.£60 (as I won't need spend another £30 on the adaptor kit to fit to my phase 1 rails)... then get them cleaned before fitting.

Oh, BTW that seller has just replied to my question...

"Yes, they clearly flow 440cc/min at 3 bar... Thanks, su_nioj"

...What do people think?

They look like greys which are 380. You want yellows which are 440. Whatever the seller says, if they don't flow right once they're installed, it'll be your hassle, not theirs. You could ask what they flow at 3.5 and 4 bar.

When Mark serviced and tested mine, that's what he did, as well as cleaning them twice to make sure they were clean.
