Default restrictor pill help?

i have been searching the net and have found that the restrictor pill should be in the pipe that exits from the bottom of the wastgate solenoid. is this correct?

and where should that pipe be connected to? mine is just pushed into the base of my induction kit cone?

hmm... i've ben looking into this alot recently-- there should be a restrictor pill in the short hose leading off from the turbo up to a T-piece which pumbs to both the wastegate actuator sitting on top of the turbo and the wastegate solenoid valve.

take a look here, should be all you need... How Subaru's Factory Boost Control System Works v1[1] 01 - Fullscreen

there are variouse bores of restrictor pill, 1.2mm being the most comon i think, but tell you Subaru dealer what car it is and they can look up and see what you need (e.g. they said my '97 WRX wagon takes a 1.2mm). they cost £2.50+VAT and it is important to get the right size!

hope that helps!

ADZER: On an pre-MY97 car with a 3-port BCS the restrictor is in the pipe from the bottom of the solenoid to the intake pipe after the MAF. Having that pipe pushed into the base of a cone filter is quite common and doesn't cause a problem.

The document linked to above explains how boost control works on a post-MY96 car with a 2 port BCS, the restrictor is in the short pipe from the compressor bleed nipple to the T-piece. Size depends on model and year. 1.2mm is the std size for a TD04 equipped car upto MY05.

if the pill is missing, you will over boost and fuel cut off will kick in. So you must have manual boost controller. you can feel the pill in the pipe, and it comes off the actuator.

If it's a UK MY00 then it's 1.2mm for sure.

Your mapper should know this and have different size pills available to set the boost range you are aiming for.

Which pipe comes off the actuator? There is no setup which uses a restrictor in the pipe to the actuator.
