acl or cosworth

If you want genuine ACL bearings, I would not get them from ebay.
Pay a little more and make sure you get genuine, esp if you're planning on spending a lot on an engine build.
Apologies to honest ebay sellers but I simply don't trust anything sold on that site.

Genuine ACL are available on ebay. I bought some. They have the proper packing, proper instructions, proper stamps and IDs on the back. You just don't pay the usual UK mark-up on something that is imported from Australia. I never heard before that Cosworth bearings are simply repackaged ACL, but it wouldn't surprise me in the least. After all, bearings are ACL's full-on business.

Best and cheapest way to buy expensive parts is to use the people who actually make them. Unless you want to pay for a fancier name. Totally off topic, but if you go in any chemists, you'll see fancy 'Panadol' or similar for £2.50, own brand paracetamol for £1 and cheap packet 'Galpharm' make paracetamol for around 20p. The pricey stuff is chemically the same but looks nicer and is a different shape. The midrange stuff is just the generic Galpharm tablets, IN THE SAME BLISTER PACK, inside a midrange looking packet. The cheap stuff looks like it was imported from Poland, but is identical to the other two for a tenth of the price.
I still can't understand why people pay like £600 for rods over here when they can be had from the big name manufacturers in the US like JE, Wiseco, CP etc for £250 or £300. I mean, OK if your having to pay someone else to do a build for you and they are the parts they stock, fair enough, everyone has to make a living. But if you're doing a DIY build, there's no point paying more than you have to for repackaged goods.
