Default What causes Batteries to Furr up

It's not my scooby but the battery on my VW camper. What causes a battery to furr up. The live connection on my battery is totally covered in a bright white furry substance. I only changed the live connection about a month ago, and there was none on it then. It seems to be charging O.K, had no problems with it starting!

Not completly sure but its to do with small amounts of acid curroding up. To stop it happrning you can get battery protector spray which nutrulises the acid and protects the terminals should only be a couple of quid and will last for years. sorry about my spelling

i would say when you changed the live connection the case of the battery has been cracked so the acid is leaking out slightly,if acid is not leaking out the white foam would not form especially in a month

new battery and some battery terminal spray will sort it
