The easiest way would be to lower the boost via the boost controller as 1.4 bar is too much. The controller is automatically lowering itself to 0.6 bar as a safety feature as it's boosting too high. Try setting the boost to something like 1.0 bar as a maximum and keep increasing over time in small increments until you reach a level that the car is ok with.

Spot on advice -this is exactly what I did with my MY97 STi - I think I ended up having it set to a peak of 1.25bar - never any problems after that

I should have added that it is worth getting it checked out to make sure it fuelling OK, etc - I stuck mine on the rollers at PE and they did it for me - boost guage also gives you a little more confidence

What about gain settings? Where should it be set etc. I get boost fluctuation since I fitted a boost controller and I have even set it up for standard boost and still the same problem. The car is not mapped but surely to run standard boost through a boost controller it wouldn't need mapping. It boosted to 1.0bar before i fitted the controller with no problems, strange hey!

The controller has to be set up first so that it doesn't "spike" (reach momentary high boost levels). I.e. if you want 1.0 bar make sure that the car never reads as high as that when you take it out for a drive with Wide Open Throttle in each gear.

Initially set the Gain as low as possible then keep increasing gradually over time making sure that maximum boost isn't exceeded.

If you're having difficulty with it still though, it's always an option to have it adjusted on a rolling road and they'll set it just right.
