My 96 classic is doing the same, I've changed plugs and oil etc but not coils and I have a warning light on my dash but no access to a diagnostics system. My MAF was black when I bought the car 2 weeks ago as it had a real chavy induction kit on which I've ripped out and put back to standard so I think I'll be looking to change MAF sensor & coil packs too
