Default Top Mount Intercooler for 96 Wagon?

Hi guys, I could do with a new intercooler for my N reg 96 wagon as the previous owner fitted a lightweight bonnet but never meshed the underside of the bonnet scoop so most of the fins are bent to hell. It currently has the slanty type mounted on it but I would like possibly an STI one.

What intercoolers will fit mine? Can newer ones be made to fit at all?

Thanks in advance

It is easier to fit a FMIC and you will get better results. It is also likely to be cheaper when you take everything into account and is probably going to take less time to do.

Are FMIC's easy to fit? I looked at a step by step guide on here somewhere and it looked kinda complicated

If you havn't fitted one before it could be a bit daunting but my Hybrid intercoolers come with instructions and step by step it is actually quite straight forward. The fact that we fit them for £150 on a same day basis should give you an idea of how much work is involved.

will need a remap/chip/ecu upgrade to get the best out of any intercooler you fit other than standard.

I fitted an STi V1/2 to mine which isnt really much different to the standard one and it made it overboost....

...how ever if you do want to change I have a modified later spec IC, and the STi V1/2 IC....plus im from N.Wales too, let me know if your intrested!

Once I get a new intercooler I'd be looking at getting a remap done anyway because I think I'm going to change the coil packs and possibly fit a new full exhaust system on it to. GazJenno, what would you be looking for the modified IC if that won't impede my engine at all? Thanks harvey too, what do you charge for the FMIC's supplied & fitted?

Supplied overnight inclusive of Paypal is £285 for you to fit or we can fit here inclusive of all sundries for a total of £435. If you are still on the original Subaru air box and pannel filter you will need a cone for the induction which we would also fit inclusive but you have to supply that.
