Default clutch not working when started

hi guys got a problem with clutch and im stunned to what it could be,ok we just put a new engine in my subaru wrx sti version 3 why i was there i put a new clutch in,ive just bled the clutch and when car is turned off the gears select fine and clutch is nice, as soon as i start the car the pedal goes slightly softer and will not engage gears,if i start car with car in gear it will work but the bite is right near the floor, ive used a full tub of fluid to bleed it and theres definatly no more air in there im sure of it what else could be wrong

oh just in case it matters the engine i put in was wrx not sti as couldent afford one

and when i do engage clutch with car started theres a strange noise

Take off the slave cylinder and keep the bleed nipple at the top while bleeding, once blead re-fit. There must be air in it m8..... The only other thing could be that the release bearing isnt located into the pressure plate.. But if that were the case the clutch wouldnt work at all....

Will it go into gear when the car is started?

I would suggest adjusting the clutch pedal so the biting point is higher up & you get more fluid into the stroke.

The pedal can be adjusted but that wont be you problem..When you try to bleed the slave when its fitted to the box the nipple sits lower than the pipe, so its hard to get out all the air.. if you take the slave off you can keep the nipple as the highest point and the air can escape easily...

The pedal wont need adjusting unless its been tampered with before...When you adjust the pedal you are not increasing the amount of fluid pushed, the piston and chamber are the same size regardless. You are just adjusting the position of the pedal. You can however preload the clutch but who wants to do that....slip!..
