Need help with how to disable the stock EGT probe on JDM STi V2
Hello.
To my big suprise there is a stock EGT probe on my JDM Subaru Impreza WRX STi V2 -96.
I was on my way to upgrade my stock Downpipe to a new Ninja downpipe from Welcome to Scooby world when I noticed the EGT, first I thougt it was a aditional oxygen sensor but then after a while I found some more info on a site in the UK.
The EGT (exhaust temperature probe) is located directly after the cat on the downpipe. here is a link to the EGT:
Subaru Parts at Graham Goode Racing
I know that this is stock on old Evo's and Supra's and works as a warning light if the cat temperature gets to high, several friends of mine has removed their stock EGT on their Evo/Supra's and "solder a resistance (ohm) between the two contacts" so the ECU doesn't give a warning.
I would guess that the function is the same on my old Impreza especially when thinking of the placement.
Now to my questions:
Does anyone here know how to disable the stock EGT ?
Does anyone here have any info at all to give me regarding this?
Pardon my bad English, I'm from Sweden so English is not my first language.
Best regards,

I didnt say to remove it.
Just to unplug it from the exhaust, and cable tie the sensor out of the way. Leave it plugged in to the wiring. Its function is not important like on the new model cars.

it's not monitored by the ecu, but by a separate circuit and light for it on the dash.. unplugging it and removing it should cause no issue.. it is a very basic setup. The only thing it does on this year of car is illuminates a light on the dash or not.

Thanks alot guys
For the time being I have just attached the sensor to some cables under the hood.
The downpipe is mounted and works perfectly!.
I will measure the resistance from the sensor and solder a resistance in the connector when I have the time
