Manifold heatsink
May sound like a sad question BUT what is the best colour for an inlet manifold to be coloured to avoid heatsoak?
It will be powdercoated not painted
thanks Dave

the best colour would be a reflective surface (foil) or failing that white. On the premise that both these colours would reflect radiant heat rather than absorb them as a dark colour (black) would.
However I'd think that most heat would be transfered by conduction from hot air then the colour wouldn't make much difference.
Best bet would be a silver reflective finish with an inner skin with a vacuum between like a thermos flask LOL

Yep, as swisstoni ssays most of the heat is transferred from the block and header tank. Best bet is to get some unsulators from leteral or Carl Davey, specialist Subaru Impreza parts supply

You are thinking about "black body radiation"......Planck / einstein and all that LOL
A black body absorbs more radiant heat than a white body. Its why sailors wear "tropical whites" in hot weather.
