Default Cold air feeds

Have got a RCM air intake to go on when the car gets mapped in a couple of weeks, this is the one that replaces the airbox and filter with a cone etc but still in the engine bay and not in the wing.

Ideally I'd like to get a cold air feed to it, been doing some googling and have seen the piper cross kit which looks quite neat but would like to see what else people have done. In particular where/how are you taking the feed at the front of the car ?

I have the Sti front fog lights so thinking maybe take out the lamp and use the hole to take a feed but the diameter of the light is quite large, alternatively have seen the zerosports cold duct item pictured below which look ideal but are silly money !

Any ideas / suggestions / pics etc gratefully received..

Cheers
Pete

Have spotted the chargespeed ones that come in FRP or C/F which look like they could do the job and are much cheaper than the zerosports version, anyone used these for a cold air feed ?

Cheers Merv - are they the chargespeed ones ? Look great painted, prefer them to the zerosports ones I think. Where did you get them from ?

Are you running a cold air feed to the engine bay from them at all ? any pics ?

Superb mate, many thanks

viewed your scooby and see you have the RCM air intake as well - how do you find it ? Much noisier than the standard airbox ?

I used the Pipercross one. £25 from Halfords.

The kit essentially is enough for 2 cold air feeds, so you should be able to get setup for £12.

The piping is longer than that shown above too.

VMS for a shot of it in the fog cover.

Induction noise a lot louder than standard airbox, plus dump valve can be heard.

Here is a pic I took tonight;

The first outlet has been fitted with one of these eBay Motors: NASCAR RACE CAR brake cooling air blower fan 3 inch NEW (item 300224429220 end time May-19-08 16:35:58 PDT) I will be doing some tests in the hotter temps to see if this will help with under bonnet temps in stationary traffic. They certainly move a lot of air.

Never seen one of those before, would be interested to see what it does for heat soak in stationary traffic Where did you take the cold feed from for that ?
