Default hasn't run for a while.....Got 19 miles from a full tank!!!

i dropped my engine from my 96 RA (which hasnt run for a while 4 years or so) into my recently aquired 98 UK 2000. All put back together and it ran yep i didnt expect that either.

Anyway with a front entry TD05, some 550 injectors, Walbro fuel pump, SX fuel reg, Front mount intercooler, MRT clutch, 4.5kg Fidanza flywheel, bell mouth de-cat down pipe, grouppeS headers (wrapped), larger home made inlet pipe & air filter, reversed & raised inlet manifold, Oil catch can & mini air filters on the rocker covers.

again it starts but its running a bit lumpy as you would expect without the ICSV and MAF plumbed in but the Simtek will do away with them next week

Anyway i drove it today and it's smoking a bit from the back when i'm not on the throttle, i guess it's running rich, but should it be smoking? is it due to the engine not having run for a while or could it be something else more terminal ???

it was fuel, i thought it was running Rich but not EMPTY THE FUEL TANK FROM 3/4 FULL .... Rich. a3/4 of a tank gone in 19 miles

it appears it was pumping fuel at a rate of knotts into the engine and then into the Sump, i've never seen Oil so viscous

So i have drained the engine oil out and changed the filter, but what will stop it happening again before it gets mapped

i have turned the fuel presure regulator right down, but will that resolve the fuel quantity issue do you think ??

surely something else must be wrong here, the 550's aren't *that* much larger than the standard injectors, are they?

Or are they 550 litres / min?

I'm in Tamworth Craig. Cheers.

I have got larger braided fuel hoses 10mm rather than the fuel pipes, but surely it's the injectors which dictate the amount of fuel that hits the engine/inlet rather than the bore of the pipes it travels in.

I should get my fuel presure gauge and adapter this week so i can fit this too, would too higher pressure from the SX unit force that amount of fuel into the engine ???

It is awaiting a remap on wed, as it's a UK car (ECU) and a Jap RA lump and a new fuel set up.

But even still i shouldnt have thought that i could shift a tank of fuel through the fuel system within a 30 minute drive surely ???????

I just want to make sure it's ok pre map otherwise Simon will have had a wasted journey to map it

It was a frickin !!!!! damaged O ring on one of the injectors allowing all of the fuel to Pour into the engine !!!

Gutted , nut now i'm glad that i found the fault.

and it runs fine now, really well in fact considdering it doesnt have a MAF & ICSV.

A relieved
