Default OPEN TOP CLOSED TOP ENGINE

WHAT IS THE DIFFRENCE BETWEEN AN OPEN TOP AND A CLOSE TOP ENGINE I HAVE A CLOSED TOP ENGINE IN MY WRX BUT I BLEW THE BIG END BUT I NO SOME ONE THAT SAID HE WILL GIVE ME HIS WORKIN ENGINE FOM MINE PLUS I GIVE HIM 300 POUND AND HE WILL FIT IT SO WHY IS HE AFTER MY ENGINE

I assume your talking about open deck/closed deck. Closed deck blocks have more support around the cylinders and are therefore much stronger. Some have under piston oil squirters and probably more features. They can take more boost and are a good basic for a big power build.

Are you sure you have a CDB?

What model, year??

Default CLOSED DECK

YEAH IM SURE I HAVE ONE HE TOLD ME BUT IF IM NOT LOOKING FOR MASSIVE POWER WOULD A OPEN DECK BE OK FOR ME

DO YOU THINK I SHOULD LET HIM HAVE THE CLOSED DECK BLOCK OR SHOULD I HOLD ON TO IT

Stevie take your caps lock off mate its classed as shouting on a forum! We can talk about this tomorrow, its up to you mate! Chalkie was giving me his engine to repair one that i have in my Garage. I have a CDB in my STI. Im after another one so i can do a big build and have it machined and relinered to 2.5!

cool no im happy with that im just trying to find out a bit more on open deck engines im not sure if i want to put a weeker engine in can you tell im new to this tinternet stuff is this stu or smudge

An open deck will be absolutely fine for well over 400 BHP, so unless you have BIG plans there really is no need to worry.
