Default check engine light on dash

The check engine light came on today and at 4500rpm the car felt as if it were hitting some sort of fuel cut?
On further investigation I found a small pin ***** of a hole in the radiator end cap, could this problem be related?
How can I turn the light off?
The car is a my97 sti 555 ltd

i seriously doubt the radiator is causing it,it is very hard to diagnose a fault like that on the internet as it could be many things causing it.

best thing to do is check the fault codes stored in ecu then you will have a clearer ide where the fault lies, not 100% sure how you do it something to do with connecting plugs under the dash i think?have a look at www.jollygreenmonster.co.uk it might say on there.

I checked it, I've got code 24 and 33.
24 is idle solenoid
33 is engine speed sensor 2.

Any ideas apart from the sensors being faulty that could cause this.

the car used to have an induction kit but got put back to a standard airbox, would this cause a problem if it hasn't had a full ecu reset?

Strapper is your speedo working? If the ECU detects a malfunctioning speedo it will limit the car to 4000 rpm..

Als I knocked my speedo cable the other day, and that threw up a fault code 24 .. Fixed the speedo, cleared the codes and none have come back.. all working fine again!

I would do a full ECU reset and then check the fault codes as the ECU will store old faults so you my be chasing your tail so to speak

Done that and the light cleared. tokk the car out a run and let the engine temp get up then tried it up the rev range and it seemed ok. Then I pulled up to a junction and the check light flickered on and back off again. Drove for another mile or two then the ceck light came on for good.
