this is the thing iv been thinkin about it for a while and been advised to, if i was going to do it i would prob end up going down the simtek route with would also get rid of the maf but i cant really justify the cash at the mo just wondering weather it would be ok and not cause any harm as long as i stick to v power

I have run my classic wagon on V power for the past year without any problems. Should be 100RON fuel though as opposed to V Power at 99RON. Octane booster additive at about £4 a tank will raise it to 100.

No, is the simple answer. Use the best fuel you can afford. If the ECU detects any knock it will retard the timing and the car will lose a small amount of power, thus making it safe.

not quite true, the scoob ECU seems to struggle in retarding the timing,7D AND Z4 For sure, it has a knock sensor but doesnt work that well.

i wouldnt rely on the knock sensor to retard the timing if knock/pingin was occuring.

but a remap isnt essential on an import is the simple answer
