can you shed some light on this problem? Driving along every things fine engine check light comes on.Car still driving ok.I then notice both the speedo not working and the gauge on the Apexi rsm meter not working either.Check light has gone out and not come back on again but at every junction the car stalls. Its a 1997 sti version3 V-limited

What other mods have you done to your scooby?

Have you checked your ecu for error codes? if not then do so and see what errors you have then check them against the ecu fault codes.

the only mod i have done is put a apexi panel filter in.The RSM meter was already in the car.It still goes like stink so i assume its not in limp mode.I checked fault code and i get 2 longish flashes and 4 quick ones which tells me theres as idle control malfunction.

but your most likely problem is a broken speedo drive cable or a faulty converter from km to miles if it has one

I know someone who recently had exactly the same thing (except no error codes logged) and it turned out to be a fried kph/mph speedo converter..

Fixed it.All i needed to do was replace the lower part of the speedo cable.
