Default PPP or Ecutek???

Hi All,

I have been thinking long and hard on getting MY55 Sti 2.0 power increased from the standard 265bhp.

Would you suggest Pro-Drive or an Ecutek performance upgrade? Prodrive I think are still trying to charge 2 grand for 305bhp, Ecutek seem to range from £1600+, or do you know of any better deals out there????

One of my biggest decisions is price and what you get for this.....

Any good suggestions would be welcome....

Cheers

Look at it this way mate, if you get someone with an A1 reputation like Bob Rawle, Andy F, etc, etc, then they will only take the car upto what they feel is neccessary, Id go for it mate deffo, it will be like a breath of fresh air, better driving, just better all around.

Bottom line, they look after your car, obviously no guarentee nothig will go wrong, but very unlikely.

Definately Ecutek........ wouldnt even consider the other alternative
Most people who have had the PPP go for the Ecutek at a later date and can feel a large difference in performance between the 2. Whilst this might not always show up on a RRoad it is the way the power comes in through the rev range as a result of a better, fine tuned Map......

I've been dealing with Bob Rawle for nearly 10 years now on all my Subaru's and never, ever had an issue...... highly recommended. Andy F's abilities speak for themself through the many threads on this site - with either person you have topclass experience

Powerstation isn't too ar from you, it would be worth the extra mileage to one of the best though mate believe me, try emailing them any questions, Andy has been very helpful, answering my questions even though hes a very busy man.

How about Zen Performance in Wellingborough. My RB5 is going in this weekend for a full rebuild/remap. Researched who to go go to carefully and they seem like a good outfit. Zen Performance

What spec gives 370lbs and you want 400lbs - is it a 2.5 - sounds very, very high torque figures

We're based at Junction 7 of the M11, not too far a journey from Cambridge(shire) and more importantly are local enough to provide ongoing support should you ever need it.
Scoobynet and SIDC members receive special rates with any Subaru remap, post 2000, coming in at £400 including VAT

Here's what one or two of our previous Scoobynet customers have to say

Chart on View My Scooby
BHP and Torque should be more now as car has just been set up for Methanol.
I Will put that chart on when I get it.
Going back to Thread Question
I think Ecutek, don't think you would get torque as high compaired to BHP with PPP

Its the 2.5 ltr engine that does it, even with only 280bhp your cars amazing high torque would just keep it pulling and pulling.

Just be careful of the torque getting any higher though, gearbox, clutch etc etc.

Mate had a hawkeye bottom end fitted in and he got 360lbs torque and 325bhp, mine is 320bhp and 300lbs torque, its much more powerful....

Yes it does pull and pull.
Very easy to drive.
Just got it back from scooby clinic tonight
now got 306 BHP @ 5200rpm
Torque still at 360 Lbs @ 3300rpm
I Know I'm just about at the limit of the std Running gear.
So no more power gains until she blows. got a few thought what to do then, but will have to get some dosh put to 1 side.

I've got a 2.5 STI with PPP.
Had it remapped and it is heaps better, which beggars the question of what is the point of the PPP.
Seems to me a decent exhaust + remap would probably have been cheaper and better.
Cut out the middle man if you know what I mean.

I need to get on the Scoobyclinic Rolling Road - could do with an extra 20-30lbs for free ;-) based on your spec

That would still only give me 460lbs though on my 2 litre :-)

I agree Prodrive seems a RIP OFF, use their parts which are very good and go to a good re-mapper!!! This has got me thinking that I was right all the time on the £2K cost from Prodrive!!!!!!

Neither am I, the benefits of Ecutek and alike outweigh the warranty aspect for me along with the reputation and reliability of the cars and the mappers associated with the Ecutek mapping.

Must go like hell
the 2L are supposed to be a stonger engine
you must be running some high BHP as well
