Question Engine weak at low rpm when cold

Coming out of the garage this morning and at the first few junctions, my STI v2 felt like it was going to stall when pulling away, and needed a few revs to keep going. Once on the move it drives fine, and was OK once warm.

Any ideas please? MAF?

Sounds like the sort of symptoms caused by the 'choke' not being on in the old days of carburettors...
In other words, I don't know, but my MY00 turbo occasionally does the same in certain weather conditions, mainly when it's cold.

That's just what it feels like - though I've not had a car with a choke for years!

It sounds like your coolant temp sensor has started to fail.

This sensor is used by the engine Ecu for various things, but it is critical during the warm up cycle.

The Ecu needs to add fuel when cold (just like a choke) and if the signal is not quite correct then it can underfuel/overfuel and give the symptoms you are experiencing.

Thanks; I'll keep an eye on it and change the sensor if it misbehaves again.

Upd: changed the sensor yesterday and it's not made any difference

Any other suggestions please?

Also cleaned the MAF sensor and swapped the induction kit back for the original airbox and resonator - still behaves exactly the same

Any other suggestions please? Does anyone know the correct resistance range for the coolant temp sensor so I can test it?
