Default coil pack Only sparking on 2 cylinders, any ideas Guys?

I have recently stripped down everything off my wiring loom that i dont need on my project car (my 98 turbo engine)and now i have a problem, the car has a bad misfire and when i take the leads off the coil pack 1 by 1 the front 2 contacts on the coil are not sparking its just the back 2 that are sparking. I did try the engine and loom before i stripped ererything off it and it worked fine, so what could i of stripped off to make this happen? im pretty sure i just stripped out connectors for things that i dont need like lights, heater etc. i went through my wiring diagram and labled every last connector before i started stripping. There are no fault codes showing either.
I dont really understand how the ignition system works to be honest and i am stuggling to trace it back on my diagram as alot of the wires on my loom are actually different colours to the diagram. could someone expalain how it works? does the ecu control how the coil sparks etc?

Thanks for any help.

Is it the igniter that controls the spark from the coil? is there a way i can test if it is faulty?

1&2 spark at the same time as do 3&4 so if 3&4 are not sparking there must be a wire broken or not making contaced in the wiring plug to say the coil pack or wires feeding coil pack further down the line, think tese packs are a delicate piece of kit and dont need much to blow them...
