cars just had a rebuild due to a piston/conrod falling out done 400 miles so far and everything seemed fine,this morning car wouldnt start,turned key and all lights etc came on but nothing happened,just a click held key for a second or 2 and it turned over and caught as normal.At kfc drive through later was told order would take a few mins so turned the car off,collected and went to start it and again nothing.Held it and still nothing,key out and tried again,still nothing.After a minute or so i tried it again with a few choice words and it caught as if nothing had happened,could this be starter problem or more likely and electrical/immobiliser fault,please help as im losing patience with this car again

Do you hear a click when trying to start it?

Or, do the dash lights dim when you try to start it?

I'd say, if you hear a click or the dash lights dim, its a starter fault. If you hear nothing and the lights dont dim, its an electrical fault.
