Decat without remap?

Default Decat without remap?

Can i fit a decat exhaust to my 1996 sti V3 RA without having it remapped?. I realise that i wont be getting all the benefit of it i should but is it a safe thing to do?

idealy you should remap,you will suffer from over boost more than likely

Agree with the above - did the same to my STi3 and spent the next month hitting fuel cut everytime a played with the loud pedal. Optimax+Millers+Blitz DSBC+rolling road check at PE = happy driver - I could find anyone mapping pre-98 cars when I was an owner.

basicly there is a set level where the car will automaticly back off it it detects too much pressure from the turbo. taking hte cats out makes the air system flow very well meaning it can hit that level

I thought de-catting a classic was a little less risky than a newage? withut the remap aswell I mean..

hi ive got a v2 sti. ive recently fitted a full decat system to my scoob. I noticed a difference in performance straight away but when i accelerate hard in 4th and 5th gear i get an agrressive jolt which is the fuel cut system coming in to protect the turbo from over boosting. Its awful to drive like this so ive got some advice and basically i need a remap to sort the overboosting and to get the maximum gain from fitting the decat.
