I went to view a 1995 subaru impreza today, and noticed the indicators were on the right hand side, the owner told me it was a uk car, so why would they be on that side then? what are the things to look out for between uk and import?
grateful for any information.

 

run a vehicle check on the number plate
if you have it then PM it to me and i'll check it for you

also , are there any WRX stickers on it ?
has it got headlight washers ?

My mates 97 uk car has the indicator control on the right hand side as well, although i thot all the uk cars were supposed to have the indicators on the left the same as my 99 uk rb5??

 

have a look at the VIN plate for a start jap code starts GC8.

1.Series code G=Impreza S=Forester B=Legacy etc.
2.Body type F=Wagon C=Sedan
3.Engine type 8=2.0L Turbo
4.Year code A=MY93 B=MY94 C=MY95&96 D=MY97 (facelift) E=MY98 F=MY99 G=MY00
5.Number of doors 2=2 door coupe 4=4 door saloon 5=5 door wagon/hatch
6.Model type 8=WRX 7=RA type E=Sti D=Sti Type R & RA
7.Transmission D=5 Speed Manual AWD P=4 Speed Automatic AWD

 

even easier if its a saloon is to check for a rear wash wiper or a sq modified fog light on rear bumper as jap cars dont have rear fog lights

 

Ariel on a JDM classic is on the rear quarter, UK is on the pillar by the drivers door.

 

not on all classics mine is on the A pillar (93 wrx)

 

all classics have indicators on right, until the dash facelift(my99) after that they all went to left side. hth. robbie

it will say on the log book if its an import

 

i thought dash face lift was my98, as mine are on the left and mine has the "newer" dash

 

you get more for your money if its an import anyway so if its what your lookin for then dont worry about it being a uk or jdm
