I know what my service book says, but whats the general consensus, erring on the safe side (miles/age) for a cam belt change..?

BTW, I'm aware that followers and tensioners also need checking..

I'just had mine done at 90k my mate had his done at roughly the same millage, however i changed my water pump too, just to be safe.

I've just had mine done at 59k, Subaru recon on 60k in the handbook most people seem to recommend 50k. Mine didn't show any real signs of wear though.

Well mine will be 4yrs old Oct this year, so migh as well get it done before, otherwise insurance and tax is due at same time..!

I do mine on a yearly basis, not cos of mileage or anything like that. I think im putting extra power through everything. Im sure the belt must be taking more load than it designed for. For the couple of hrs it takes to change and the price of the belt i'd rather not take the chance.
