Default ACT - charge temp digital display

Is this one of the cheap ones people recommend to stay away from?

ACT AIR CHARGE TEMP SENSORS, EASY INSTALL TEMP GAUGE on eBay, also Dial, Dash Switch Custom'n, Interior Styling, Car Tuning Styling, Cars, Parts Vehicles (end time 23-Mar-08 20:55:44 GMT)

Cheers

i brought one, works ok, and good readings, but i found with my one, the sensor at the end broke and started to come away from the wire.

I have one of the £50 ones that some of the top turners sell, but the back lite display went on that.

like what has been said above, maplins do a cheap one that works well, but no back light display

How long did it last before it broke mate ? and did you have the wire pinned so it couldn't move around?

cheers

it was a few months, i had it going into my intercooler pipe just before it went into the TB, what i think that caused it was the boost (1.5 bar) moving past it all the time, so it was moving back and forth,

i should think if it was more held down, it will be ok

i have got the green one in mine

Got one in mine, reads O.K above 5 degrees, below that generally reads "Lo", as I have FMIC I don't see anything except "Lo" TBH. Gonna spend a bit more and get the one in this guide:

http://www.fastfordmag.co.uk/resourc...AF238.tool.pdf

from:

R&B Motorsport.co.uk | Suppliers of everything you need for your trackday or fast road Ford RS vehicle.

Then get my IC pipe tapped to take it as I am sure it is just because it flaps like DaOne mentioned that is is not reading right and the one above looks far more substantial.

When working they are really useful!

Does anyone know of somewhere that does one that doesn't look like some £1.99 digital thermometer though?

I have a FMIC would need it to measure nice and low, the ebay add says it will measure down to -40, is it possible this is not the same one you bought?

I also have one, from Mocom. The back light last about 5 mins. Keep meaning to send it back...

I'm not so sure mine is installed in the right place, i just gave it to a garage to fit.

It's usually about 20 degrees over the ambient temp. The more you boot it, the colder it gets, but a few junctions or idling and it can go to 70+ and stops reading at 70 with ---- displayed.

Try and find out what the sampling rate is,as some of these only check the temp every 10 to 30 seconds which is far to long for act testing.
