Exclamation How quiet can you get the AVC-R boost solenoid?

Hi all,

Any help would be much appreciated as having woddy woodpecker under my bonnet when the solenoid struts is stuff is getting irksome!!

I know that mounting the solenoid on rubber is said to help with the issue, but I've had a go (in my own crude way i.e. placed some rubber between the solenoid and the suspension turret and screwed it into that) and to be honest, it's not much better! Any tips would be great, or is a certain amount of clicking something I just have to live with?

Alternatively, should I just admit defeat and persist in my efforts to get someone who knows what they're doing at it?

Mine is mounted on a metal bracket with no rubber and does make a noise, but not as bad as when it was mounted on the turret.

You could buy one of those rubber bobbins that has a threaded bolt at either side, the ones used for mounting fuel pumps on vauxhalls etc..

Mounted mine with the rubber pad supplied with it, to the metal plate that that the OEM boost solenoid is mounted to and get no clicking at all.

Used to have a blitz SBC before and that was mounted with no rubber under it and could hear that in the car, it damm annoying

my apexi did this, anywhere mounted on the body of the car will increase the clicking volume in the car. I found it best bolted to either the engine block or intercooler (top mount) bracket. With it on the intercooler bracket i cant hear it at all.

Mounted mine on the bracket to which the existing OEM BCS was fixed and had no issues whatsoever.

Can I remove the 3port completely then. It's still on there but disconnected save for a thickish hose If I remove it altogether will the ecu flag an error code?

Ah, just had a brainwave: "What if I sandwich some foam between two layers of rubber and then affix it to the suspension turret- that should insulate the noise"

No it didn't!!

You see, this is why I'm not an engineer! I'm just going to get someone who knows what they're doing to mount it where the existing 3 port solenoid is!

Mine does this, but i think it's the original solinoid that's clicking and if i disconnect the plug from that the CEL light comes on. Any solutions?

I hope you're not removing all boost control?

Anyway, stick a 2.2ohm resistor in the plug, hey presto no CEL
