Default Downpipe gasket info plz

This will probably sound very remedial but.....

On a 95 Impreza, Which way should the downpipe "O" ring fit?

So it squeezes into the centre pipe or should it be flat against the centre pipe?

Went to get it MOT'd with it fitted into the centre pipe but failed emissions, and I can see air leaking from it even with paste layered all around it.

Just checking wether I've got it wrong way round or just done a poor job

I put it with the flat side against the downpipe and the rounded side into the centre pipe. It might be the right way and I just did a poor job.

Didnt notice the way the old one went as it just crumbled away when I removed the exhaust.

Its an original gasket from TSL.

I think it's probably a mistake on my part by the seems of it when fitting. Its a standard exhaust I'm fitting it too.

is the downpipe the same size as the center? i know there will be a small lip when i put mine on coz the standard center is 2" or 2"5 ? and my downpipe is 3" so there would be a little bit of air escaping until u replace the center section

the gasket can only go one way round, the tapered side goes in to the centre section.
i had probs with getting mine to seal as the centre section is non standard,i just fuked the springs off and used standard nuts, bolts and washers jobs a good un now.
