Default A Bit Quiet For My Liking ...

Morning all ... hope you are all well and have not been blown away with this lovely weather we are having at the mo ....I have owned a 2006 2.5 WRX for around a month now , think it's a great car but just want to get some of that "Subaru Burble" released from the exhaust system as Subaru seem to have done a good job of "deadening it down" .... i am not wanting to de cat etc just want to up the exhaust note slightly and subtly.......

I am thinking maybe change the rear box ????????... but have no experience with this model/brand of car so any guidance and suggestions would be greatly appreciated.....

Changed the back box on mine and it made the burble much more prominent!

You need one of two systems and they are the Afterburner Vortex system or the Blitz Nur Spec R.

Both systems will do the job you are looking for very well.

They are good exhausts however, there a a good few people who have moved from this exhaust to the 2 above exhausts that I mentioned previously.

Magicgreg - OP did say up the noise level slightly & subtly though - surely the two you have described are far louder than that!

For a bit more a Magnex or H&S would do the job - don't know how loud TSL exhausts are.

I've got a Magnex 6x4 oval if your interested. It came off my 06 WRX, it makes a subtle burble, but i wanted something a bit louder so i changed it. Its only done about 1500 miles and it's like new!

I don't think so as he is just contemplating a change of backbox, without a change of centre section or downpipe the noise for just the backbox of either of my 2 suggestions is not horrific although both would certainly liven things up a little without being way OTT.

H&S are a good shout, they actually help in developing the Afterburner range.

Good quality items, reasonably priced and produce good gains and sound.

Slight Highjack but same question really..

I had the Blitz Nur Spec R back box on my MY98 WRX and it sounded amazing.
I then had the TSL Firestorm on my MY03 STI and that too sounded amazing I would be hard pressed to pick between the two.

My question. Hopefully in the next few weeks I am getting a JDM STI MY05/06.

I want to put on a full system but a little lost with choice. My first option was to go for a HKS or Blitz but was told they sound great but dont give much performance gain.

I was then told the Milltek would give the best performance and allow me to keep a cat.. but wouldnt be as loud as a HKS/Blitz.

I see Scooby clinic is offering one of their own ones.. Decat 3" piping with a Japstyle back back...

What have people got and what do you recommend for a good power gain but with the noisy scooby is coming back box?
But something thats not soo stupidly noisey that i finish a long drive with a headache.. lol

Thanks

Matt

My vote is for the sound of the TSL it was awesome for me on my classic, i eventually went back to my slightly quieter Magnex in the end though.

Vortex for me mate, looks the part, great build quality and the sound is sublime, you get good gains from this system as well.

I generally think that angled exit looks better on a classic whereas a straight exit suits newage more, I was limited to straight exit due to the rear diffuser however, I think the straight looks better on a MY07 anyway.
